Church premises

This is the church building. Initially, it used to be village mass-center/church before 2010 when it was under Hamirpur Catholic parish of Rourkela diocese. Since 2010, the arrival of the Jesuits, Tangrain became a new parish of Rourkela diocese. The church building remains same as the old village-church with some interior and as well as exterior renovation; and an addition of a church hall, a sacristy and toilets for the faithful.

    Dreams becoming reality! Years ago, the people of Tangrain dreamt ‘Tangrain and together with nearby mandlies (village churches)’ as an independent parish to cater to the needs of the local faithful; and that was fulfilled on 03 December 2010 with the establishment of a new Tangrain parish (carved from Hamirpur Parish) under Rourkela Diocese and the parish was handed over to the Jesuits of Jamshedpur province. In fact, it was a ghar wapsi of Jesuits as some people in Tangrain would say, as Jesuits left Gangpur Mission in the late 1940s entrusting the mission to SVDs. Since the establishment of the Tangrain Parish, the people of Tangrain have witnessed the services of the Jesuits.      Exactly after a decade, Tangrain mission achieved another milestone on 3 December 2020 as they inaugurated the new school building with three stories (thirty classrooms). '1 Day Recollection' for the youth of our parish

Saturday, March 27, 2021 , we had '1 Day Recollection' for our parish youth. The recollection focussed on 'growing in an intimate relationship with God.' The whole program was organized and managed by the Core Committee of our parish youth, guided by Fr. Amit Lakra S.J. It was a thrilling experience to see so many young boys and girls coming for the recollection. The Sacrament of Reconciliation was arranged and practically, all of them received the Sacrament. Some of them expressed their joy of having received the golden opportunity of receiving the Sacrament after the Corona Lockdown. All the more it was a spiritual preparation for them before Easter.  Fr. Ranjit Roshan Minj S.J. , from Chaibasa was the guide for the recollection.
