About nine months after their priestly ordination, the five priests of Jamshedpur Jesuit Province - Fr. Nelson, Fr. Neelam, Fr. Mahesh, Fr. Basil and Fr. Amit met in Tangrain at St. Xavier's Church Jesuit Community on September 24 to 26 noon. It was a time of joy and a time of blessing as they could meet one another personally. Their meeting was a combination of prayer, reflection and sharing of their life's experiences as a priest. Their meeting was aided by some inputs from Fr. Charlie who shared some of the practical aspects of priesthood. He defined priests as "servants of the Lord." He also emphasized on the importance of prayer in the life of a priest. Keeping in mind the Bharat bandh on September 25, 2020, all of them arrived Tangrain on September 24. Hence, they had a day of relaxation and made use of their time by visiting different mandlis of Tangrain parish. On Saturday, the last day of their meeting Fr. Jerry, the provincial, provided a s...
Saturday, March 27, 2021 , we had '1 Day Recollection' for our parish youth. The recollection focussed on 'growing in an intimate relationship with God.' The whole program was organized and managed by the Core Committee of our parish youth, guided by Fr. Amit Lakra S.J. It was a thrilling experience to see so many young boys and girls coming for the recollection. The Sacrament of Reconciliation was arranged and practically, all of them received the Sacrament. Some of them expressed their joy of having received the golden opportunity of receiving the Sacrament after the Corona Lockdown. All the more it was a spiritual preparation for them before Easter. Fr. Ranjit Roshan Minj S.J. , from Chaibasa was the guide for the recollection. He was in the high spirit to see the big number of youth attending the program. He talked and preached to them using videos and images which were liked by the participants. Thanks to Fr. Ranjit, the Core Committee, and all those attendees. Wi...
After over a yearlong nationwide lockdown and lockdown restrictions, the youths of our parish were able to come together for their ‘Youth Day Celebration.’ It’s a time for them to come together, know one another, build, and nurture their relationship of oneness as parish youth and its future. They were all enthusiastic and happy. One could perceive the deep longing for coming together. Hence, we were surprised to see more than the expected number of energetic boys and girls for the program. The program was a great success, and the credit goes to our animators of the day Frs. Neelam, Augustine, and Sch. Telesphore. They stirred the minds and hearts of the youth and filled them with energy and hope. They all went home with new hope and new energy. Thanks to our Youth Core Team for organizing such a beautiful program. Well-done! But remember it’s just a beginning. Keep reminding yourselves of the words of American poet Robert Frost: “…The woods are lovely, dark, and deep. But I...
